Hi,I am new to forum
I,ve looked at various threads on electric steering problems
I took motor off to see if relays need re-soldering/replacing
but found pcb has no relays any help please

Hi mate and WELCOME TO THE FORUM

You have the later version motor in which they did away with the relays.

What problem is it that your having? I assume steering warning light?

Alan

Thanks for quick reply
yes steering light was coming on intermittently and is now on all the time
I am in the procees of buying elm 327 and using fiatesuscan but reading
various threads last night I decided to remove steering motor to check pcb and found
no relays I know this was a bit hasty but my mot is due shortly

Hi mate,

Yeah its best to check the codes first if you have that option available, as I'm sure your probably aware there are several different factors/ components that can cause EPAS failure, ranging from a weak battery up to the torque sensor or motor itself.

Its worth checking the condition of your battery / alternator at this time of year anyway, regardless of the EPAS fault, especially with yours being a diesel.

Alan

Thanks Alan,
I have reinstalled steering motor , I checked voltage at battery with engine running it seems ok but will charge battery again and try latter, the van get little use so I will wait for arrival of code reader thanks again

hi bretta you need more than the elm cable to read fault codes for power steering
i think you need vag lead also rather than elm but im sure someone can elucidate
ive had good results with the vagcom lead and the little switch by the way as a cheap alternative to the lead sets
as said make sure battery and charging system up to spec first mind before condemming anything
