Hello, I'm new to the forum having recently acquired a 1.2 8v Mk2 Punto

Today I replaced the air filter but the screws in the air box are badly corroded, 3 of them rounded off and I had to drill them out.

I would like to replace them all so that it's not a problem next time the filter needs changing. Anyone know where I can get them??

Just to be clear I am referring to the self tapping screws that go into the plastic of the air box (not the bolts that attach the air box to the engine).

Wood screws of a similar size work fine, I use zinc plated pan head.


You'll be searching for a long time for hi lo self tappers identical to the originals

You'll find stainless ones on eBay, but the big issue with such screws is finding something that matches what you want.

A local fastener supplier may be worth a trip. (Yellow Pages, etc.)

Of course, the unspoken (but obvious) source is a FIAT dealer.

None of the eBay ones are close, quite a few of them are wood screws anyway.


I wouldn't use the dealer on that, it's not exactly a critical part, but that's my choice.
