Hey guys just posting to find out if swapping out my standard watercooled punto mk2 radiator system with an hgt punto mk2 1.9 jtd intercooler is possible and how easy it is. is it a straight swap because my car keeps over heating lately and the single fan on the radiator is doing nothing?

WOAH WOAH WOAH! STOP!

Coolant Radiator = Contains coolant which allows the air to pass through to cool the coolant under pressure

An Intercooler = Is fitted to induction system, as air is passed throught a turbo is becomes super hot, hot air = less dense, so an intercooler is used to allow the flowing air over the Hot air trapped in the intercooler to be cooled to make it more dense making the turbo hella lot more effective!

If the car is overheating, and the single fan which is more then capable of cooling the car down nicely isn't doing its job
Then there is a problem somewhere

Is the fan activating when the temperature reaches just over half way?
Does the fan spin freely?
How quickly does the car overheat?

Tbh with the cool and wet air we have, an overheat in this weather means something has gone horrible wrong

ohhh okay thanks for the info on the inter cooler and i think so i might have to have a look this week end by letting it tick over and see if the fan kicks in. is there a dual fan kit available for mk2?

and its not like it overheats all the time but more often then it really should as like you said over here we have cool weather anyway.

it shouldn't overheat at all and there would be no benefit from swapping parts from another car.

most likely a new thermostat, clearing any blocked radiator channels and some new coolant will fix the problem

if your radiator fan spins then consider either the relay the little fuse or the big fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet
ive had 2 relays go duff this last year

of course it might be faulty thermostat blocked radiator matrix faulty water pump dead flies in matrix or even hg gonned

maybe get someone skilled to have a butchers whilst pleading poverty for a 5 minute inspection ?
