my mk1 punto gearbox whines in 1 to 4.it stops at about 2500-3000.sounds a bit like a jet engine(wishing ).doesnt cause any problem with selecting a gear or speed.is the box on its way out????

Mine does the same, but it needs a new exhaust as it is blowing at the first silencer, u sure it isn't that?

nope deffo not blowing anywhere.was at the manifold but had that sorted..will just wait to see if it gets worse
