I have changed my speedo does anyone know if i get mine proxy aligned when i dont know the true mileage of the car? I know its around 110k on clock will fiat be able to proxy align it even tho i dont knw exact mileage?

Does anyone know anywhere cheaper than fiat as i dont fancy doing it myslef and fiat want 60 quid

Cars ECU/BSI/Brains what ever you call them will have the true milage stored in them to a degree

So when they proxy align, its done to what the car thinks If the dash is lower then the milage, or just accepts the higher mileage dash

Download Multi-ecu scan - that can do the proxy + gives you a really helpful diagnostic tool

Fiat themselves - but you wanna avoid

Local Auto-electricians - they can do it too, but may charge you just as much

My choice - MES because it'll help in the long run at some point

What if i do it wrong cant i really mess up ecu and car un useable if i do it wrong ?

proxy alignment is just to 'introduce' the new cluster to the CAN system so it sends/receives correct information nothing to do with mileages I'm afraid, this has to be set manually, always higher than current mileage never lower.

you cant do it wrong:confused: MES will guide you through the process with on-screen instructions. even if it fails your speedo maybe half proxy align, like one speedo of mine, attempted it and failed for some reason on lsst thing, speedo stopped flashing, able to reset trip etc but had incorrect mileage:D i still have incorrect mileage on my car:rolleyes:

Is there a guide on here? Where to plug in etc and so i would click proxy alignment and it would put correct mileage in etc for me?

I use XP on the netbook running MES (although am an Apple user -- and have been since 1984 -- in nearly all other respects...); and there was a problem with latency, IIRC, when connecting/installing.... A search of here/the MES forum may help. Haven't tried it on Windows 7, I'm afraid: as the only PC with it on, here, is acting as a media server....

It should connect to the BT sensor, though (I have a Lemur BlueDriver...) -- but I'm sure the MES manual has lots of warnings about not using wireless connections for proxy alignment.... :(

Sorry: not much help, really.... The MES website and forum are very helpful, though.... (y)
