Hi guys and girls , I have a 1000 watt sub to fit to my mk2b active sport , do I have to change the head unit ? With it being a blupunkt ( havnt a clue how to spell it) I thought that I wouldn't but people have said other wise , thanks a lot!

If rather not if I can mate haha I hate them they look cheap and takky in my opinion and I carnt have a double dim !! :-(

id rather not have to get up every morning for work but thats how it goes:rolleyes: they dont look that tacky to be honest, i think the factory stereos look dreadful in the puntos but then thats my opinion right? someone could come by and say shut up they look great:D cant please everyone can you? now ive never worked with a factory stereo in a punto funny as it sounds....only in other cars, but im sure if you pull it out and look at the wires, if it has a blue remote wire for the sub then your in luck if it doesnt then its aftermakt or no sub...

Well that would be a pain because I have just spend a bomb on this sub haha ! Thanks a lot mate

Do you have an amplifier for your 1000 watt sub or are you expecting the head unit amp to power it?

I think your in car audio plans are somewhat misguided if you think you'll get any quality out of the original head unit and speakers and jamming a big subwoofer in the boot.

Realistically the first thing you should change is the head unit followed by the speakers and only then think about a sub and amp

Well you can run it off your standard head unit but as the head unit has not amplifier outputs you'll need to use a converter, combined with standard speakers it will all sound like a singing contest in a cat blending factory

Right hahah well I've bought an iPhone adapter kit so I could plug my phone into the standard radio that was a huge waste of money ! Haha will have to get a new head unit then ! Thanks a lot

because the standard punto stereo's DONT have the mono/phono cables,
You'd have to steal or splice into the rear speakers and take the 2 feeds from each side

To make the phono cables up, not end of the world
You need to make sure you wire the sub up with a decent power cable and earth return while ensuring its fused correctly

1000w @ 12v = 83amp ish

So thats some sucka of a load on the already stretched power system on the punto

In winter you'd find with the lights fans heater wipers and that - when the sub woofter hits hard, the lights will keep dimming and the car may wanna die
Not only that - such huge power drains could forwell be sucking more / spiking the poor alternator

So defon consider a bigger battery upgrade AND trying to find and fit a rare 1.4 16v Punto's 100amp alternator in the same fitment style as yours!

Good luck!

Ziggy
