Hi,

have had this niggling problem for sometime now and just cant seem to get to the bottom of it,
Basically The car has been misfiring normally around 2k 2.5k revs,

I had it scanned and it came back with P1135 which is lamba sensor before cat, so replaced that and had the code cleared but still misfiring, then I replaced all spark plugs, leads, and coil packs, result = still a misfire,

I got myself a scanner and scanned again and it still showing P1135, I have cleared it a few times and it keeps coming back,

anyway today what I decided to do is swap the 2 lamba sensors over (post and pre cat), erased all codes, now I still have the misfire when I'm driving but am no longer getting the code back any more, so I'm guessing this has ruled out the lamba has a fault ?

not sure what to check next, any idea guys ??

also I have noticed the spark plugs are very white as if its running way to lean, which would explain the misfire but haven't got a clue what my next step is other then take it to a garage

thanks in advance, all help very much appreciated

Right I'm thanks for your replies,

I have some silicone grease. Do I just pull the plug apart and whack some grease in there on the terminals ? Then plug back together ?

Not done a compression test yet but is not losing any water,

How do I go about testing my map sensor then, I have a multimeter

Also forgot to give my car spec.

It's a mk2/B
1.2 16v active sport

Cheers again

White Plugs means its running Lean, very lean

I'd be tempted to see what the MAP sensors is reading, wondering if its not responding to change in the manifold and staying at a set value?

MES is you best friend here

If the map sensor was playing up would it not throw a code up on my scanner ?

Also can I ask where a outs is the map sensor on the punto ? Cheers for your help

dont bother with anything.check map maf sensor mate.thats where the problem is.good idea clean throttle body with carb cleaner:)

I've cleaned the throttle body already, so I'll take a look at the map maf sensor, where about s is it located ?

that's my take on it.., ;)

the Lambda is flagging up that the mixture is VERY lean , that why your'e getting a CODE related to the Lambda,
the fault lies elsewhere, The cause of the lean mix - you could always unplug this Pre- Cat sensor and run it briefly for comparison, ( after checking the other suggestions)

if it's been running THAT lean for long you MAY have cause other damage / cooked the spark plugs,

Charlie

varesecrazy is right the plugs might be a red herring
get a co test done see what true figure you are getting as it all points to a faulty/corroded lambda cable not map

So how do i go about testing the lamba, map sensors, can this be done with a mutimeter

I have cleaned all the sensors also give the throttle body the once over again
