Have a look at the second pic in post #7 in the thread I linked to earlier. See the nut and bolt holding the horizontal bit to the vertical bit.
Its possible that Fiat changed their mind about routing the hose or that hub is used in other vehicles with different set up.

Right, I think I get it now. It was a design mod carried out before the car even left the factory, but some lazy sod has reverted it back to the pre-mod design to save some time/money whilst changing the shocks. Jesus. I'll get down the scrappy a.s.a.p.

Sorry for my slow learning. Cheers folks. Appreciate all the advice. :)

I won't be so quick to feel pleased with myself in future!

Like I said, it's identical, and it's apparently been like that for a long time judging by the rust.

To clarify, this is the drivers side front brake pipe.

that don't look like the right rubber

I felt like that a few times with my car, but I've slowly waded through most of the issues. New ones come up, but my experience is growing and there is good support on the forum to get you through it......have a break and a cup of tea, you'll feel better!

i've got to drive it to work and back every day this week knowing that the brake pipes are fitted incorrectly, and one of them is my own doing. the fact that it's been like that for years isn't really any consolation at the moment.

in a way, i wish i hadn't posted this thread. ignorance is bliss and all that.
