Hi Guys,

i am owning 1.2V8 Punto for a few months already and doing service step-by-step. One thing which made me confused was the cabin/pollen filter replace.

I have not checked the shape of filter in advance and bought one with a cutted side. Luckly it fits, but originaly Punto has a rectangular filter which is placed in a plastic cartridge, so it is the same shape as one I bought.

And here comes the problem. Filter I bought has an air flow direction arrow which is oposite to the one on original filter. It is not rectangular, so it fits only one way, and then arrow is pointing to the passengers door (regular car with a steering wheel on the left side). However, previous filter had it oposite. And I can feel air comes from the side of passengers door.

Thus my question follow.
1. What is the correct direction of the air flow, from passengers door or to it?
2. Is an air flow direction important for those filters?
3. Is it likely I bought something like UK version of a filter?
4. Any other ideas? :)

Have just done a video on this because people kept asking me to,

the air should flow from the passenger side towards the centre of the car, the air comes into the cabin from behind the dash.

By the sounds of things it seems you may have bought a right hand drive filter? all the replacements i've seen are the square type you describe as the one you found in its plastic carrier, can you take it back to the supplier and swap it as its the incorrect part for the car? i'm sure there is a reason for airflow direction maybe the way the fibres are organised, putting it in the wrong way round may mean it clogs up earlier than it's supposed to

Thanks Andy. Yes, your video shows exactly the thing I had in car originally. But all mirrored of course :)

I will order a new filter then. Sadly can not swap this one since I bought it like two months ago online. Anyway, not a big deal.

Handy video, btw.

Does the MK2B Active Sport have the cabin filter? I can't seem to find one in the place mentioned in the video at all.

In case you have an AirCo it should be there. Non AirCo versions have only box, but it has no opening which you can modify to accept filter in.
