I was wondering whether it would be possible to replace the boot lid from the mk2b (facelift) with the original mk2 boot lid. This is in attempt to 'tidy' up the back as the reflectors and badge are a nightmare and both are indented unlike the original which didnt have either.

I just want to know whether the original mk2 boot lid would fit a mk2b punto by simply swapping them over. I will be respraying the boot lid to my mk2b's colour so dont worry about colours ;)

heard many people do just that
Mk2b with a mk2 bootlid

If your after the smoothed look then yes :)

remember you need to swap the boot lock as well tho and mechanism if you have boot open warnings,

Ziggy

thanks Ziggy :)

well i just dont want the massive fiat badge (which is indented) as well as the reflectors, (dont mind the boot lid key hole).

should i make sure when i order the new boot lid that it comes with the boot mechanisms also?

get the new tailgate with some loom showing by the hinge
undo all the electrical connectors in your already fitted tailgate and pull the loom out by the hinges prior to removing tailgate and put the loom dangling onto the back seat
once new tailgate fitted carefully fasten new loom to old loom but keep it as thin as possible to avoid jamming,i use good quality masking paper for extra stickiness
now pull the old loom through into the tailgate hole by the lock and feed your original loom into the new tailgate
take your time and its easy to pull it through
rush it and it will jam
