hey, just signed up to this forum to get help/tips from other Punto driver.

I have recently had a problem with my baby (Punto ((yellow;)))) where it has been misfiring. so i looked about checked spark plugs, changed coil packs etc. and still getting the problem, so i decided to drop it into a garage because it was coming upto MOT time. They checked it over and told me the head gasket had gone and the fuel filter/pump needed replacing. got them fixed and then they said my radiator fan motor had conked out! As i have already spent over £500 i cannot afford a new one that they have quoted me £60 on the part alone (not much but i still got rent and bills to pay!!!!!)
so someone please, please, PLEASE! enlighten me and help me where i can find a cheapish radiator motor, or how to remove one so i can pop down the local scrappies.

ps. its pretty urgent as i need a car to get to and from work, and me and the missus are struggling with just her own car ( pug 206 (n))

Many thanks chaps and chappettes!
Nathan

Fuel pump's are unusual in mk2 punto's, did they say why it needed replacing ?

The HG will of been causing the misfire but what else was wrong to replace the fuel pump ?

Have you checked the fan yourself ? Run it up to temp and see if it cuts in.

Ebay or scrappys you will be able to get one cheap.

They did say why it needed replacing, but as i was pretty busy at work i didn't have much of a chance to find out in detail. something about getting no fuel through or not enough (expecting to be ripped off to be honest)

And yes, they shown me when i popped down, the engine ran, tempature raised, and fan did not kick in. and they shown me a fuse to show me that wasn't the problem.

And i think it is a scrappies job as i am a bit short in the money department at the min!

You wouldn't by any chance know how difficult it is to take off the motor would you? As i have been in the army too long and if i can't fix it with a good wack with a hammer, it's too technical for me haha!

Oh and thank you for the quick reply! Very much appreciated!

Well thank you SO SO MUCH! for your help!
I shall have a play about in the scrappys tomorrow, and do a bit of research now while work is quiet! haha.

Have a good evening :)

buy the fan with the cowling from the breakers its easier
they will run it up for you so listen for noises that tell you its good or not
4x8mm headed bolts hold it to the radiator, undo the electrical plug ,pull cabling away from cowling and then undo the bolts drop it out of the single fixing behind the slam panel drop down twist and it comes out of the top
take all this with you to the breakers as there are 2 different cowlings and the wrong one wont bolt in your car
dont pay more than £25 tops second hand

That sounds simple enough. Thanks.

I just got a quote for just the motor through 1st choice from Miles St Auto Breakers for £41 plus £10 delivery.

Im glad you told me because I would have taken it and been down a fair wack of money.

Once again, much appreciated guys!:D

Thanks Fingers99. I have now checked it and it is definatly the motor, the fuse had gone too but replaced that and still nothing no i got one of the REME lads at work to have a look and he said it's the motor.

I got another quote off 1st choice and the bloke said it is 1 of 2 types, either valeo or magnetio? (not sure if I got the name right with magnetio) i am pretty sure its the valeo one, but to be safe does anyone know if it is?
