Hi

I have read the posts regarding key code lights staying on, well I have that problem also, tried the advice on here ie checked the connections etc around the key barrel, and also checked the fuses, I have with no joy tried to find a garage/auto electrician to set the ecu back to virgin state, I was going to take this option as I am :bang: with my car, it plays up constantly, and bosses are fed up with the "but I couldnt get car to start" excuse when am late for meetings, I would pay what it costs to get the mobiliser sorted altogether, but to be honest am sick to death of the thing and just want car to start first time all the time :( so hence just getting the ecu set so as not to recognise the code, does anyone know of anywhere in the Glasgow area or just outside it that could do this ?? I have had local auto electrician have a look and all he said was that he did not have the correct equipment to re-set.

thanks in advance :)

What year/model punto do you have?

The key code is kept in body computer or code box depending on model.Get it checked on examiner, pay the £75 odd for codebox & £45 for one hours labour and be done with it,you 'll be saving as you wont be losing time at work in the long run....might even save your job ;)

Fiat immobilisers are actually very hard to bypass!

:) thanks for reply

I have a 1997 1.7 TD 60 S

if I just knew where to take the car to be fixed that would be half the problem solved

It was checked for a diagnosis and nothing found, but then I was informed by garage that I would need to get checked when fault was there :( pretty hard when car got mind of its own and if I phoned them to come and tow to garage then they got there and turned key and it started, soooooooo back to trying to find somewhere to fix it and not to expensive into the bargain

thanks again :)

It's a diesel....mmmmmm had many problems with these in the past doing exactly as you say.One option I suggest is to leave car at garage for a while (if you go on holiday etc) & they can check daily for starting/cutting out, this has advantage of keeping the bill down.
Seen many pumps/ecu's changed on these as a cure but both are expensive however lets hope its something simple (loose connection etc) but i'm sure you can understand intermittent faults are very hard to track down.
Glasgow area? Arnies in Ayr comes recommended by many folk I know.Cant comment on pricing etc but techs are decent. Also Bicketts in Kilmarnock but they are new to Fiat.

HI, most intermittent faults with the diesel are due to the fuel pump code ecu mounted on the fuel pump itself, these normall have problems, either the day after being driven in the rain or in the rain itself. You can check the connections ( a three pin connector) but if the car has done a decent mileage then this would be the area I would concentrate on.

Hi

thanks for the replies, I will contact the garages mentioned tomorrow, but first I will check the "fuel pump code ecu " connection mentioned, the car has done 54000, it really is a pain when it plays up,I have even been saying little prayers and crossing fingers when trying to start :(

thanks again
Wilma
