Technical central locking manu added on

Youngests mk2 Punto 3 dr 1.2 2001 - has the C/L upgrade fitted (by PO etc) with the round fob and button in the centre - twice now I've unlocked on the key instead and whilst car starts runs like a pig, immob led in the central of the top dash still flashes, air bag lights come on and stay on, power steering fault light comes on and there is no power steering... switch off the car, lock then unlock on the remote hey presto no problems - as if the c/l unit (now just where is that sited??) is bypassing some of the ECU - immob obviously synches with the key chip.. a tad concerned that only 1 remote fob & if that fails he could be stuck -- daughters 1.2 16V 2004 with factory fitted c/l can be locked/unlocked with key or the single remote key without the shenanigans,,

Spiking the ecu maybe?

Its been done and can be done - but i'd be questioning what other bodge work may be carried out?
