Technical new tappets?

Bad news from my mechanic.
Few weeks ago i brought him my punto 1,2 16v with 110.000 miles because head gasket failure. He replaced the HG but later on by phone he mentioned there's some rattling going on, valves maybe...
Actually i heard some rattling myself before the service but it stopped after few seconds and happened only once..
Now he wants to change all tappets with some used ones, maybe even both camshafts.:bang: I didn't understand him why excately new tappets are needed - said that camshafts are blocked or something...

Than he said there's not a lot of oil around the valves - there should be more oil but this could be dued to water mixed in the oil (because of HG failure). So he wants to check oil pump as well.

i bet hes put the hg on backwards

the 16v uses hydraulic tappets so they need a good oil flow

I would expect a mechanic, that I am paying, to inspect the valve lash clearances are whithin tolerance before I would want new tappets, or cams.

Also as ziggy said, if the noise is since the HG change, then he had probably ballsed it up.
