Hi guys,

I have searched the forum for people with similar problems as me - the heater fan not coming on at all. Mine does not come on at any setting (including 4). The sidelights do not come on when the fan is turned on . (two things my searches told me to check). I've removed the fan and checked the fan works fine (it does) - I'd like to check the fuse hasn't gone but for the life of me I cannot fine a fusebox diagram for the passenger side glovebox of my 56 punto. Any diagrams I find are completely different layout (this one has room for 14 fuses in a 2x7 formation).

Please can anyone help me? Or advise me what I should check.

Thank you for any and all help guys!

Darren

56 usually a grande
however there were some which didnt get registered till late 06

If its the fuse for a mk2b its (says in my haynes)
The heater blower is in engine bay
Far right hand side of the smaller fuses (mini)
2nd fuse down 30amp fuse

Check that first

If u have a multimeter see if there is 12v at the motor connection

Thank you for the replies guys - I will check the black connector when its light tomorrow T14.

Thanks for the detailed reply Ziggy. I'm pretty sure the car is not a grande so I will check to find the engine fuse box tomorrow and examine the fuse you've mentioned.

Will post what happens tomo!

Hi guys - couldn't wait till morn so went out with the torch =)

The fusebox by the engine has nothing in fuse 8 - fuse 8 is a large fuse. The only small fuses rated at 30 are f49 and f53. I checked them both - they looked fine, I swapped them over incase anyway but no difference. Does this mean it is a grande? (even though the front end doesn't look like it/no rear badge)
In the glovebox fusebox there are no resisters rated at 30.

I looked around in the footwell for any sign of a black plug with a black wire but the only plug I could get to was the one indicated in this video which I assume leads to the resistor? And this plug has no black wire. Fiat Punto heating not working - youtube vid: 7iHPcaQZwWg (I don't have rights to post links yet)

Is the black wire/plug really hard to find?

Anything else I should look for?

Many thanks,

Darren

my sidelights Don't come on when the fan is turned on though...is it still something I should check?

Thank you for the link - I do not have that black plug though and I cannot see any black wire - I have even removed the plastic from the left side of the bay/by the door to check it wasn't hiding behind there but still no plug. I will video tomorrow how it looks in the hope this helps point out what I'm missing.

Are you getting no air at all or are you missing just warm air?

I had the following problem some time ago. A heat sensor did not work and the fan in front of the radiator was not running, so the engine heat didn't reach the cabin heating system. I thought that the heating wasn't working, but this was just a minor issue. The big issue was that the radiator couldn't cool down and the pressure built up until something broke down.
Yours probably is a different issue, but you better take care.

Thanks for the reply - I get no air at all the fan doesn't come on, on any setting - going to check the resistor today - still can't find the black lead (earth) connection to allow me to bypass it incase that is the issue..urgh!

Does your reverse light work by any chance?
Laugh at this all you like - but i found out today that the reverse light uses the same circuit to power the relay low current side for the fans as well

Fuse box - very bottom right in cabin - 7.5amp fuse

Also did you check the relay? conviently the Relay for the rear demister is the same 30amp in red

Try swapping the Red Relay in the engine bay for the red relay in the passenger compartment

If the interior fans then work - but not the rear demister (the light will come on - but you wont get that ""click"" as it activates)
