Hello all!

I have an intermittent problem (possibly to do with the weather?) with a rear nearside creak.

It's most obvious at low speeds over bumps/uneven roads and when starting off.

I can replicate the squeak by opening the boot and pushing down the rear nearside.
Interestingly the squeak is higher pitched when I disengage the handbrake?!

The car springs back up without much bouncing when pushed down, though the ride does seem a bit more bumpy than usual (possibly just poor roads?)

There doesn't appear to be an obvious leak from the shock, and the springs look okish.

Looking through the forums the suggestions to similar problems seem to be;

- Dead shock absorber (How to check?)

- Metal on metal rubbing (requiring lubing)

- Handbrake cable (Again - how to check?)

- Bushes? (Not sure where these goblins live)

is it a constant squeaking / creaking

In this wet slushy weather the handbrake cable in its mount often gets plasted in the wrong stuff, as a result the rubber rubs on metal = Squeaky squeaky

To test with ease - locate handbrake in mount - spray with WD40 to clean and leave some oil behind?
Does it improve? Yes
remove clean properly - Slap some copper grease in there :) sorted done and dusted

No, It's a bit of a groan/rattle when setting off (possibly unrelated) and then a squeak when going over humps and bumps.

I'll have a go at the handbrake (where would I find the mount?, the one directly underneath the ashtray?)
