Hi, New here so bare with me,

Fiat punto mk2 1.2 active UK the car has half tank petrol.

Wifes car, had head casket done two weeks ago, power felt a little down after it came back, anyway. Yesterday the car just cut out. Found out the fuel pump was not pumping fuel so got a replacement from the Fiat scrapyard and tested the new one in front of me, worked fine.

So put new fuel pump in, still wouldnt pump fuel although you can feel the pump is getting power just not enough. When you turn the ignition you can here a relay in the fuse box ticking furiously non stop. Replaced , no change. Also noticed no spark at plug or was intermittent.

Hooked it up to a computer and got fuel relay sensor warning and noticed that the speedo started to read random speeds from 5-15mph although the car is stationary.Tried the fuel reset button, no change.

So me and mechanic are convinced its an electrical problem. Could be a loose wire or faulty ECU although we did reset that and no change. Ultimately the fuel pump is not receiving enough power to make it work correctly.

Would really appreciate any helpful advice as were just confused.

many thanks

Thanks for your reply. Changed TDC sensor, made no difference. Since found out it was the coolant temperature sensor that stopped the fuel pump from working bizarrely.

Again thanks for your help Fingers(y)
