Hi guys,
Someone tried to open the rear door of my daughter's Punto to get out, when she had locked the doors - driving through a dodgy area.
I managed to remove the rear door card without damage but it was a right chew on, seat squabs out etc.
Re-arranged the linkage and it was sorted.

The other week someone did it again. Is this a common issue, and can you open/unlock the door with the door card on (no car details but the "anti slim jim" fitting was left out...)

Thanks

So whats the linkages doing?

they falling off?

When you pull the lever - the locks should automatically unlock and the door opens

So if the doors locked - somebody pulls the handle and it "comes off" and wont open
it says somewhere the linkage isn't
A - Secure
B - Not fixed in securly
C - Bent

Ziggy

I thin the linkage becomes deranged, when I got the door open last time it seemed to work fine after that, there doesn't seem to be any mechanism for opening the rear doors to unlock the mechanism - indeed the driver's side rear doesn't do it. I'm really just trying to find a way of opening the door without the faff of stripping the interior out so I can fix it.

I should point out it was 9pm when I did it last time and I wasn't in the mood to take notes then... Once I have it stripped out in the daylight I can work out the problem...

If its the read door on a 5 door car then no the door doesn't unlock like the front doors, its to stop children falling out having played with the Handle.

Realistically it should break either. Are you sure the kiddy lock is on and these people are forcing it? maybe now some damage has been done so a replacement mechanism is needed.

Is not a common problem or indeed a problem I've ever heard of
