Just wondered if anyone could help. The paint work on my rear bumper has been damaged because of some idiot going into the back of me at work. The pain has started to like flake off therefore making the car look naff to be honest.

I took it to a spray shop to ask for a quote to get the damage repaired and they have quote £120 + VAT meaning its going to be around £140ish is this expensive or is it about right? Thanks guys:D

Doesn't sound like a bargain but then again doesn't sound extortionate to me but people may have other opinions. You could probs get cheaper elsewhere. Maybe post a pic of the damage for more accurate opinions.

Given that the tin of paint to him costs about £50 then materials for prep and booth time I would say £120+ vat was actually a pretty good deal makes his labour costs very cheap

Agreed! Just paid £180 (inc. VAT) to have a Sporting front bumper resprayed (a different shade of red...). Came out looking better than new: as all trim was removed, paint was matched perfectly, and any marks, dings, scratches sorted, etc.... -- i.e. a thorough, patient ,responsible, and professionally-done job. (He even sorted out the stone-chips on the front of the bonnet for me, whilst he was at it...!) :worship:

It seemed a lot at the time; but the results made it worthwhile.... (y)

i'd be half tempted todo any prep work myself :)

A - you save money
B - You know its been prepped well
C - They just finish off what they think is needed :)

For example - on the rear 3/4 on a 3dr with the ""sill section""
The door would be open and masked off
The Interior would be protected off
The Little piece of trim removed
The window removed
The light cluster removed
The Rear bumper would be lifted away etc etc

So that he can then just prep little areas - mask what needs also masking
Then spray away!

i know a guy at felling (gateshead) who's done a brilliant job on some of my mates rally cars and road cars, i'll get the number and PM you it, he used to onle charge £150 to do a FULL car

Think I'll probably just go with the guy who's quoted me this price. My dad said he knows the guy personally too and he said he would never charge more than what was needed. He's the type of you get what you pay for sorta thing apart from you get a very professional finish on the paint.
