Hi i have looked at other threads but do not see this particular noise covered. When I turn on the ignition, there is a grinding screeching noise of metal rubbing together. Car does start but I don't know if the noise is something to worry about. It has only started happening recently.

yes, worry, it's not normal operation!
I can't offer anything constructive though...

Does the noise disapear when the engine starts/started/ is running, make sure there is oil in tank.daft i know my friend let hers run dry and made awful grinding noise
