General punto vs clio

You'll change your mind a few times yet. You do seem slightly incapable of making a decision...

If you get a car when you are 17 you will be best-off with:

A brand new one with free insurance for 1 year or:

A heap of junk that you can insure 3rd party only and put the rest of the wedge in the bank.

My mate bought his son a 205 1.1 'Mardi Gras' for £500 on a P-plate (one of the last). Insurance? £1,500 3rd party is the best he could get.

okay lets think about this, i have not got the buget for a new car (insurance you either have to be over 18 or 21) and i don not really want to go for an old banger as whats the point when i can have a nice 3 to 5 year old car insted????

thanks

Ok buy a clio. Good luck with it. Not quite sure what the point of this thread was though, what did the people on the Renault forum say?

Doesn't anyone realise the clio is nasty to drive, has a horrible gearbox. The Fiat might be lots of things, but it's a great car to drive

well you can say as much as you want but i have sait in the clio and it is a very nice car, i also like the punto. but i am still keeping my options open!

thanks

Colm, are you talking about the old clio? The new clio is very much a driver's car according to reviews....

And as said, if you go for the dci you get one of the best, if not the best small diesel.
