LIKE I KEEP SAYING I WILL BE TEST DRIVING BOTH CARS THEN MAKE MY CHOICE, I LIKE BOTH CARS. BUT THE CLIO HAS MORE SPEC OVER THE PUNTO!!!! :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

lol, calm down fella, we're only teasing! You can't expect a Fiat Forum to tell you to buy the french option :D

Well, Paul will. He'd even tell you that the horn played the trumpet voluntary from 'Arrival Of The Queen Of Sheba' though!

Why don't you show us the specs and the price of each car, then we can see where you're coming from. In general puntos are cheaper...

Having seen my uncle go through a spate of 1.2 Clios as a driving instructor's car, he is now sick and tired of them, and looking to move away from them soon.

plus they are quicker and better handling and have a huge base of mods to personalise the car from the punto is good but not that good tbh

are you buying new?

my friend has a clio 1.2 16v on a pcp lease hire agreement which means he can chop it in at 1 yr or 2 yrs or 3yrs for a 182 for when the insurance goes down

no used, it will be cheaper for me what do you think i will get with 4000 to 4500 then????????

thanks

rich

Im driving a Clio and enjoying it actually- It feels better built, but it's only done 4k miles. Which spec/year would you get in both cars?

Gotta agree here, to me the Clio felt like less of a tin can than the Punto. More like a real car.

But then again I much prefer the look of the mk3's to the clios, I'm only driving an el cheapo mk2 myself, not a sporting or anything.

I keep seeing a bright yellow mk3 (sporting?) bombing around the place here and it looks beautiful

Clio is a little common.

So my verdict, interior clio wins, exterior punto wins.

Hehe, I didn't really help at all did I :p

I thought the handling of the clio was better, at high speed because it was a sturdier car it didn't bounce around as much and was a smoother ride in traffic. My punto doesn't like second gear @ 10-15mph struggles. This could just be individual to my car though. My punto also has the juddering problem which is familiar to many mk2's.

I know you probably don't want a HGT but just to illustrate the point there is one on autotrader a 51 reg 30000 miles for just £4295 - that will have every toy imagineable RCL A/C and all that stuff.

Just pointing out that you can get an amazing spec punto for that price, if you're looking at a sporting you should find 'em with very low milage and much newer for the same price.

So are you looking at a 1.2 8v then? If so you should get a nearly new one for your budget, they really are very very cheap.

I'm sure you can get deals on the clios too but I'm not sue what you want any more... are you comparing with a 16v clio in which case obviously it will be a lot faster or the 1.1 one?

Before I bought my sporting, I test drove the clio 1.2 dynamic, corsa sxi, and the punto. The clio felt the slowest of them all tbh. The corsa just felt boring. I knew straight away when I got out the punto I was buyin it. Just as well cos every chav in paisley has got a clio or corsa now (y)

ps. clio's look silly with 17s (imo)
