Hi all,

I'm a newbie in this forum. Finally found a forum dedicated to fiat enthusiasts (y)

I need some recomendations here. I own a Fiat Punto Stile 1.2 8v (60bhp), and I was wondering to convert the engine to a 1.2 16v to get around 85bhp. If I find a 16v cylinder head complete with injectors and inlet manifold, would it be a bolt on mod? Or do I need also a 16v ECU + other bits?

What other bits might I need?

Is it easier to buy a 16v engine+gearbox and swap it with the 8v one?
Are the gear ratios which come with an 8v engine different from a car that is fitted with a 16v?

Thanks

i have a 1.2 16v engine, ecu and wiring for sale £100 and its yours. No box tho. And manifold ;o)

if u had the 75 BHP punto straight swap cos the 75 and 85 hav the identical spec's but the only difference is single cam and twin cam (remember the 75 has multi point injection and the 60 has single point injection)o i u will need the manifolds too

Thanks to all for your feedback. (y)

Thanks 16v Cab, I will think about it.

So if I swap the head it's a bolt on job, unless I have a 16v head, wiring loom, ecu, inlet manifold, and the injectors.

If I swap the engine and g/box, can it be done without hassle? I mean, no need to change the drive shafts, gear linkage, etc.

I was going to do it but then run into a problem whether or not the fuse box must be change and if I need to re run wires to the fuel pump.
