I asked this by mistake in the 2012 sub-forum, I hadn't realised there were multiple subforums with the same name and clicked the first one called Punto.

Can anyone confirm if there's a support bracket for a downpipe on the mk2 1.2 8v punto.

My old one didn't have one, and the downpipe suddenly sheared off below the manifold. The new one came with the bracket, but looking under the car I can't see anywhere obvious to mount it, I'll probably have to make one myself but incase I'm missing something, can anyone point out (preferably with a photo and an arrow) where the mount point/bolt hole is for the support bracket on the downpipe, thank you.

have a look at the "where everything is" guide, that might help, there are pictures of a virgin engine

from what i can see
There is a lug off the exhaust
then a bracket which attachs the Exhaust lug to the gearbox

See piks - its quiet clear to see

On taking that picture i can clearly see my gearbox bolt aint tight.... Might explain my clutch judder tho.....

My mk2 2000 1.2 8v didnt have this
My mk2b 2004 1.2 8v Does obvs

There is one in there somewhere -- picks up on a rubber near the flexi pipe.

front of that trabby has bits of mk1 tranny lookalike in it

to the zig you need to get some thick paint on that sump yesterday because tomorrow its gonna start leaking if you dont
anything from a spray can will do,do not poke it
i cover in old fashioned pit grease when ive done em

to the op theoretically i reckon this is a belt and braces fiat afterthought,ive sent puntos out with this bracket missing without qualms

I'd expect it to get washed off very quickly indeed (will be soft due to heat, anyway).

Needs paint.

There's a bit of oil on the underside, is it still sound?

I've used grease on mine before, it doesn't last that long before washing off.

I've currently got dinitrol on it, think it's been fine for the past few months anyway. Plus it's more tolerant to previous oil/grease than paint
