Afternoon all

Past my test in june and got myself a Y Reg 1.2 Punto 8v ELX just to get me going for my first year

it has afew issues like one of wing mirror i have to lean out the window and doing it by hand (not using the little prong thing)

main Three which are annoying me are the Cig lighter which does work but you have to proper faff around to get it going..... Can this be fixed easy and simply?

2nd is the good old rear washer wiper which is working as water is coming out the back but not where it should be....its coming the rubber stoppers in the boot corners (See pics below)

where would i even start with this one??

3rd and not in any order the handbrake light comes on when hard cornering or hard braking (checked brake fluid level and its around halfway)

thanks for any info :)

The Cig lighter is a European Fitting, which iirc is a few mm's larger then most 12v appliances, which are Japan/china fitting which are smaller

There is a ways to get round it
What i've done is Purchases a RING automative Splitter (2way) Which has a plastic collar on the socket, allowing it to fit 10x better - stops it falling out and stops the problem of getting it going in the first place
Next is the fact i now have 2 sockets - AND a basic voltmeter on it (Good okay bad)
Which has help catch out when my alternator didnt charge

The Rear wash wipe
Sounds like the pipe has split, so it isn't coming out the nozzel its dribbling down the inside of the boot lid.... not good....

Since its top of the boot - i think the 3rd brake light needs to popped off to possibly retify this?

Fix this fault as it could lead to lots of rust where you dont want it.....

the Handbrake light flashing when braking hard and cornering has recently been covered in a topic
basically once the fluid starts to go down - the fluid can slosh and the sensors see's
"low fluid" and puts the light on
The fluid settles and the light goes out

You need to find out why the fluid has dropped
Is there a Leak?
or are you starting to wear down your pads and disc's?

The Next been wing mirror
What stops you using the "adjuster Knob"?
is it missing? or just very awkward to adjust?
if its awkward to adjust - you need to get it moving really, sounds like the linkages are rusting with age

Ziggy

cheers for reply ziggy

I shall look at the RING automative Splitter and get one ordered (do you have a link to one of these???)

I'll have a look in abit after i've eaten at the rear boot brake light see if i can see were the pipe is split.

i'll keep an eye on the brake fluid level and see if this goes down more (i've topped it up so will keep an eye on that) with MOT due next month on the car

the passenger wing mirror adjuster knob works fine but the driver side one does very little/nothing at all (it is still there)
