Hi all,

So since I have had my Punto I have washed it... and that's pretty much it. I know I should of polished it and all that it's just I have never considered my car something to look after more of a A to B machine. Anyway Now I'm thinking it could do with a good clean, polish, wax all that good stuff. It deserves it and I have a bit of time on my hands to work on it. So my question is what products do you use? What order do you use them in? And do you have any tips?

I'm a car cleaning novice and you guys are my oracle! :)

cheers,

Personally, I use this stuff for waxing... -- although I paid a lot less than £45 for it, thank goodness! Wonderful stuff...! (y)

Have a nosey around the Car Care section of the forum (particularly this sticky...). It is full of opinions; but also of some of the best advice you're ever going to get re looking after the bits of your car that show...! :worship:

HI,i have a 12 year old punto and the paintwork is really good.
The most important thing to do is wash ur car at least once a week with a good quality wash and wax detergent, you can get a 2 litre bottle for around 7 pounds.i use simoniz wash and wax, then you have to give the bodywork a good wax maybe every 1-2 months.Any good quality wax will do.
This will keep ur car shining all year long,u can buy other products for cleaning bumpers, windows etc.
Have a look in ur local car shop, its all there!!!!:yuck:

I use a complement of Autoglym stuff

Car body shampoo
Tar and glue remover
Bug remover
Wheel cleaner
Super resin polish
Liquid hard wax
Fast glass, super sheen, glass polish etc etc etc

They pretty much have a product for any cleaning job you can think of

Pretty much the same for me

Autoglym Bodywork shampoo/conditioner
Autoglym intensive tar remover ( remove bugs and tar from around the bottom section and bonnet of my car )
Autoglym super resin polish
Autoglym ultra deep shine
Autoglym HD wax
Autoglym custom wheel cleaner ( best one as contains no acid )
Autoglym fast glass
Autoglym glass polish
Autoglym vinyl and rubber care
Autoglym instant tyre dressing

Bit of an autoglym freak to be honest

My car has never gleamed since the day I got it. Only time it looks shiny is when its wet. There's a lot of swirl marks, especially on the bonnet. I think the previous owner used the drive through car washes a fair bit. Plus I've not been able to give it a good polish since it was keyed.
Got some Autoglym ultra deep shine. Can I still get a good shine despite swirl marks?

Mr. Sheen for glass, superb stuff. Halfords own cheap and cheerful polish for first polish and then Autoglym Super Resin for finishing coat. Holts tire shine for the tires but it also does the black plastic trim.

guess what... i swear by auto glym super resin polish.

im using Collinite 467s for wax at the moment which is very good and lasts ages. not horrifyingly expensive either.

The sticky that was posted is a must read as well other wise you will probably do more harm then good
