Can anybody tell me whats the procedure for changing the brake fluid in a mk 2 punto.my car is 12 years old and i think it could do with a change,do i need to get a vacumn pump????
tony.

cant really explain on an open forum
suggest you do a google and possibly buy a haynes manual this should walk you through it:)

now if you wanted to know how to do a full lobotomy im sure some of us could walk you through it and some could pick the bones out of it:D

Old way is to get an assistant to squeeze the brake pedal while you open the bleed nipples. As the pedal sinks you close the nipple and repeat. Need a tube and jar to collect the old fluid. Keep topping up the reservoir with new fluid and keep bleeding until the colour coming out changes from dark to light. Start with the brake furthest away from the master cylinder and work across and forward. Don't let the master level get too low as air can be drawn in and don't let the pedal pusher push it too far and risk reversing the seals. Pressure bottles are available from Sealy and Gunson ( £20) which use tyre pressure and make it a much simpler one man job with no pedal pushing and no repeated opening and closing of the nipples.

seen this done on an astra wit me own eyes, man was a pro tec too
it can also rip the seal because it goes over the lip in the bore and rips it as it enters and then catches as it leaves
ive had to change master cylinders before now because ive ruined them trying to get a pedal so you need to be real easy
me?
i use gravity to cleanse my lines might take longer but this way no air can enter the system and its good opportunity to drink tea

Treated myself to the Sealy kit after years of pedal pushing and would never go back. Pure luck I never screwed up a master. The nipples probably won't get rounded either.
