Hi Everyone

I’m fitting some parking sensors to my Punto Mk2b. I bought the sensors as I want to spec-up my car with genuine Fiat accessories and gadgets! Just thought I’d clear that up before I get any stick about not being able to park! :D

The sensors are the Fiat Lineaccessori SP4 made by Meta System Front and Rear sensors, which were available as an optional extra from Fiat dealership. They are slightly different from the factory fitted ones which have 4 sensors at each end rather than the 2 described here.

There are 2 modules, one for the front sensors and another for the rear. Both are labelled as ‘SP2’ if anyone is familiar with this system.

The sensors, buzzers and power cables clip into the modules very straightforward with pin connectors however I am having trouble with the wiring of the power cables to the car’s fuse box located in the drivers side compartment.

Front Sensors

The Front system has 4 wires from the power cable.

1st – Grey wire, which is to be connected in the left hand side of the Fuse box (+12 Reversing Light, in the 32-pin connector) (*Where the main loom is connected with the purple plastic retaining clip*)

2nd – Red Wire, connected to the blue wire (+15 dashboard key switch in pin 11 found centrally at the rear of the fuse box)

3rd and 4th – both connected to earth into pin 20 found on the right hand side of the fuse box.

Rear Sensors

The rear module seems to be pretty straightforward. There are only 2 wires to power the device, one red and another black. The red connects to the red and white reverse light wire and the black connects to the black wire both found at the light’s connector.

Any advice for the wiring would be greatly appreciated! (y)

So what exactly are you having problems with? You seam to have it all under control.

Just remember to take great car before drilling your bumpers not just the spacing but also that there is space behind the bumper where you drill last thing you want to find is you can't push the sensor all the way in.

It's also worth noting that sporting and sport models didn't get factory fitted parking sensors, and those that did got them as an optional extra combined with auto windscreen wipers. the remote central locking module would have probably been more useful on an active sport

Thanks for the response. :)

Sorry, I just listed what I was doing and not what my problem was! Oops! :D

The Problem is that I am slightly hesitant to plug the wires into the fuse box where the loom enters.

I have seen on the forum somewhere (however I couldn't find the post) a device that could only be described as a fuse adapter which plugged into the front fuse box with space to a attach a fuse on top and the wiring then sprouted from there to create a separate circuit if you like.

Is there any known risks disconnecting the left loom from the fuse box and inserting individual wires?

I'm making a make shift bracket which is to attach to the brackets of the chassis positioning the sensors through the small gaps in the Active Sport/ sporting/HGT bumpers. If need be i'll place them in the honeycomb grilles so that i'm not cutting chunks out of the actual bumpers! ;)
