Hi Guys,
I am new to forum , recently bought an used Fiat Punto 1.2 Speedgear,
There seems to be a problem with the indicator light in dashboard,
whether i give left or right indication , both left and right signal light is illuminated in dashboard, outside it works fine.
I hope i am clear.

Sounds like a bad earth to me returning current to the other bulb rather than going to earth. Don't not the circuitry for the display but if its a printed circuit board then i would suggest a short between tracks on the board.

A bad earth would effect more than just this one bulb. however if those to lights share a common ground and that ground is isolated to just those two lights then it could cause the problem DCthebear suggests

my guess is its probably a small fault in the body computer which is causing the problem. could be software and just need the car battery disconnecting for an hour or might be a minor hardware issue, i would put it on the computer and test the lights individually and look for fault codes in the body computer. best suggestion is you live with it and see how it develops

I think mine does this also....

I thought it was normal in a punto!

I know I have a short/bad earth somewhere because when it rains one of my side lights doesn't work and the "bulb out" light comes on.

Any idea where I should start looking? (I think the casing steams up when i've had a car wash on the offside headlight, where the 'short' is happening) so that could need tightening maybe?

Thanks for the responses guys, Rich , my car is 2002 model, do you think its normal?

Yes it is. As previous stated Mk2 only has one bulb for indicators. As for your side light problem if its steaming up inside then its seal or lense is ruptured somewhere. A good look round it should reveal the hole. If its in the lense a small amount of clear silicon seal works wonders.

Cheers boss! Could this be whats shorting the side light?

Will get onto it in this lovely weather!
