Hello,

I have a MK2 2000 W reg and my cig lighter isn't working, but I think might be the fuse so anyone know where and which fuse I need to look at?

The fuse for the cigarette lighter is where the ECU is - slightly to the right of the steering wheel. You can open this up using a 2p coin on the mahoooosive screw holes. Will be a grey tool clipped to a holder - use this to take out the 20Amp, yellow fuse (far right fuse on second to last row). Details for where all the fuses are can be found in your car manual and also in the haynes manual - as you know I have made a thread with a link to download this

I guessed wrong. Fuse is healthy, could it be a faulty wire or is it best to replace the entire cig lighter?

You checked the fuse by eye or using a multimeter?

By eye I do have a multimetre but which setting do I use to check fuses?

You can check the resistance across it. Compare to a known working fuse of the same current rating is the simple way to be sure.

Continuity / resistance, the figure should be practically Zero - ie No resistance

Eitherway - check the wiring hasn't been melted or snagged

A Lighter socket off ebay or scrappies can sort it IF the socket is at fault
