I dunno, get all excited about buying a new car for the wife, Honda Jazz. Turn up dealer is £400 away from Drive The Deal AND only offers £2.2k for the Punto (our second Punto in a row, love em but not the new one). 2000X 1.2ELX 8v, 5 door, Sky Blue Metalic. Bog standard, good condition. No Dents or scratches other than repaired stone chip, school run car. FSH, new exhaust, new front pads and disks, taxed 9 months 10 months MOT 35k miles and the twerp offers me bottom trade. Understand he's gonna just pass it on but I'm thinking , blow this I'm annoyed. :bang: So, buy the Jazz off Drive The Deal and put up with the hassle of a private sale and knock out the Punto for anything above that, probably ask around £2,500.

Bargain price? or about right?

Thanks for that. It OK inside with only a couple of minor threads on the passenger seat lifted by jeans etc. No wear elsewhere to show it s age though. Its a shame as the Punto is a great car, little faults included. Its the roomiest in the class, cheap to run as long as you use independant garages.

I would consider the multijet Punto but keep hearing varied reports on its engine. The car would be used as a cross country school run car, 16 mile round trip. With the occaisional A road or motorway trip.

Also be a shame to let our current Punto go. Its been reliable and fun. Damn it, I like Fiats.....

If you have to get rid of it then I'd think £2500 is possible privatly. But does it cost that much to keep running? Why not stick with it for a while longer while things are good...

Thats good advice guys. Its a conversation I have been having with the wife. She hates spending money on cars. Sees it as a waste. She has a point. Whilst the car is going well why sell it, lose mony, and then lose more money by buying another car.

Its the same for me with my Passat TDi Sport Estate, 4 1/2 years old, 95k but goes like a dream. bags of power and its a VW so its bullet proof. Just can't get my head around buying another, I just don't need one.

New Punto Model? Mmmmm, seriously tempting to wait. Any idea of the date or early theories on what would be different

Spy photograph, not that it gives much away :D

In Pearlescent Black with smart alloys that would look really nice. Sllightly more Seat Ibiza than the current Punto and with Golf type headlights. Not bad, not bad at all. As long as they retain the superb interior space.........

The price you were offered sounds about right to me. Most stealers were quoting £2,700 as a part-ex for my 2002 '02' ELX 1.9JTD with 56K. Higher mileage than yours but 2 years newer and still has a FSH etc. Also 8v Puntos are easy to get hold of... Persist though, as I found one dealer willing to offer £3,700 for it but I decided not to do the deal because of the car he had for sale was not the best Alfa 147 I have seen :( .
