Today when I went to change my exhaust I found one of the bolts connecting manifold to the centre pipe had been rounded off by some bright previous owner

Molegrips were of no use either.

So I ended up grinding that one off and the other one snapped off while turning it

Now I'm left with no car again.
Just wondering what I can do and so far I have three choices:
1. Grind off the rest of the bolts and drill a hole through the manifold and use new separate bolts.

2. Get a manifold from scrappy.

3. Get a completely new manifold. How much would this be though?

Surely, they're studs rather than bolts. They can be restudded by any competent engineering company. Your factor will be able to recommend somewhere. Drilling through is absolutely not accceptable as a repair -- they should be drilled and tapped.

The tricks to safe removal include penetrating oil (Halfords have a good deal on GT 85 at the moment, WD40 is a **** poor substitute), and/or heat (Oxyacetylene is recommended, but a plain old butane torch is better than nowt). And 6 sided sockets.

i grind the studs off and replace with bolts
you could grind and drill if you have restricted access
put 2 wheels on kerb if you can to get more height
or take the manifold off
these are a problem even with full workshop facilities

That's what I'm planning to do as well, it's worth trying before I get a new manifold anyway.
Problem is that I need to get it running by friday the absolute latest.
I am working in an office, meaning mon-fri 9-5, I can't do anything. Literally gives me tomorrow to sort it out either to get one from a scrappy or grind and drill even if it is a temporary measure. I can fork out some money after I get paid to get a new one.

I'd take the manifold off, get one from a scrappy. While you're tyhere, filch a few inlet or exhaust manistuds off aFIRE engine (they're the same as the ones on the Punto manifold) so you can fix that properly at your leisure.

Off the car, with anything approaching the right tools, it's easy enough.

why?
the one in the scrappy might be no good and was the reason car scrapped because it failed emissions
once off the car its dead easy to grind the welds holding the studs on its just difficult if on the car and on your back

I would be lucky if I got a working one from a scrappy. Most cars have no wheels on in the scrappies round here so they would be no good anyway as they would've been lying on the ground and probably bent.

I managed to grind off the studs and drill holes through for time being and will look into getting a new manifold when I come to some money. For now it's fixed though (y)
