Hi,

I've been looking into adding a 3.5 mm jack input to my 2004 Mk2 Punto Active Sport (mouthful!). I've found lots of general guides for doing this for other vehicles, but nothing specific to earlier models of Punto such as mine.

If anyone has managed to achieve this, I'd be grateful if you'd come forward and give me a few pointers. I can use a soldering iron, and have some diagrams for the configuration of the pins at the back of the unit (assuming my particular stereo has those pins). I think I could work it out. I just don't want to start hacking into the console without having a rough idea of what I'll be doing in there!

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Oh, and I'm new, hi! =)

dont bother
buy a radio with an Aux in port and buy an Aux in cable

why do u need a 3.5mm HEADPHONE jack for anyway?

Thanks for the input! Yeah, I was thinking this was the "easiest" way to go, but it's also the most expensive by a long shot. I was wondering if there was any way to do it besides shelling out the cash.

Out of interest, what kind of stereo would you recommend? The car has no security besides the lock, so I don't want no thief-magnet! =P

i use this one --> http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/s..._productId_548171_langId_-1_categoryId_212600

not expensive but great quality sound from it and good reception for radio stations (y)

my car has no alarm or nothing but does have tinted windows but still that radio isnt worth robbing as they come cheap (y)

you could wire an input into this player by finding where the pre amp was on the board,easiest way would be if it was a tape head unit then you could solder onto the play head connections
whatever you did the bias settings would be wrong though and the final sound would most likely sound tinny
i saw a link a while back where someone had modded a ford 6000 unit like this
personally i would just use one of these

Thanks guys. I think from this I've decided to put some pennies aside for a new stereo. It's not a huge amount more than a good quality radio transmitter cost-wise, and there's no chance of interference. If I install it myself, it still leaves me a little project to get stuck into without the possibility of frying my amplifier!

Thanks for the suggestions!
