Re: Installing DRLs

I've checked the ebay page again and thats what these should do.

Email the seller and say they're faulty and you want them to change them rather than buying some more

Re: Installing DRLs

I'm not so sure to be honest, I checked the box that they came in and it said to wire the red wire to an ignition switched live. I doubt the seller would accept them now either as i had to cut the connectors off.

Re: Installing DRLs

Ah yes, I've just checked the listing yet again, and what I can now gather (must stop speed reading ) is that its only a unit to turn them off with the headlights on, its not a completly auto switching unit

Re: Installing DRLs

surely if you run a test wire from the cigar lighter, to the wire requiring the ignition switched + it will work as required?

Re: Installing DRLs

Never mind, I should read more thoroughly what I'm buying in the first place!

yeah Colin you're right it will work like that, but I'm lazy and dont want the hassle of trying to find somewhere in the firewall to route the cable through. plus i dont want to put the extra load on the lighter cable along with the HU.

Re: Installing DRLs

the fuse for cig lighter is 25a, so should be capable of handling alot, plus the amps needed for the led's will be very low...

i know what you mean about trying to route the cable, its alot of hassle indeed

Re: Installing DRLs

Has the Punto got an engine bay fuse box

Should be able to pick up a switched feed from there if your confident testing a few bits with a circuit tester

Re: Installing DRLs

Good news peeps, I'm sure you'll be glad to know that I finally succeeded in installing the DRLs!

It only took me ordering a different wiring system to get them working properly. I'll post a few pictures up later once i've donated to the forum, cos I've already run out of space in my profile.

Re: Installing DRLs

here we go then.

no lights on:

DRL's on:

Lights on, DRLs off:

they dont look particularly bright in the picture, but i can assure you that they are noticeable!

I'll take a couple more when the light levels are lower.
