Hi, how easy is it to change a clutch on a 04 1.3 Multijet Punto.Do i need any specialist tools and which is the best make clutch to buy as they range from about £80 to £150 for a Fiat one

Thanks Shaun

Hi Shaun
I've just started a thread on the Idea forum as i've the same engine. I've just been quoted £500 for clutch and fitting from local Fiat garage and have just asked the same question on the forum. I'll let you know if I hear anything

Find a good Fiat independent garage or a backstreet garage who survives on customer recommendation. The job itself is straight-forward and should cost the same labour as a petrol Punto clutch. Do make sure the flywheel is ok some have a dual mass jobbie that can fail.

Use the best parts you can find because the diesel torque is tough on clutches.

Also as always make sure the clutch input bearing is 100% smooth and has no slack. If there is any doubt, change the bearing and seal or you will be changing the clutch again when its covered in gear oil.
