Posts: 2,287 Thanks: 41 Trader Rating: 0 ![]() | how to empty a crashed mk2a fuel tank ?? Hiya guys just a quick one for you Last week I managed to write off my other halfs punto in the ice I've smashed the ecu to pieces along with the battery and the gearbox Unfortunatly a few hours before I put half a tank of petrol in, I want to empty the tank without drilling the tank, preferably by putting a set of jump leads to the battery terminals and maybe a positive wire to the pump itself ??? Does anyone have any better ideas or can anyone point me in the right direction to which wires on the pump to put the positive to Cheers guys any other ideas would be great I'm breaking the rest of the car also its in the classifieds gimme a pm if need be Cheers again Lee

![]() | Re: how to empty a crashed mk2a fuel tank ?? Ouch. Where you do that ![]() The pump prime still when the ignition is turned on ![]() If so the injector rail has a quick release pipe entering it, disconnect that and bung a hose onto it and into a bucket / Gerry can ![]()

Lmao cheers jamie @ most easterly pandas the battery was smashed to pieces on the rocker cover along with the ecu so there is no power to anything anywhere Would the old syphon trick work without any power ?? I was thinking ease of removal so a direct +tive to the seemed a good idea obviously connected at the fuel pump before the live is connected Cheers again guys Lee

![]() | Re: how to empty a crashed mk2a fuel tank ?? You planning on removing the tank anyway if stripping the car? If so I'd drop the tank and just poor it into a can. Done that with a Panda before now ![]() ![]()

Yea I am thinking of stripping it if there's enough interest but its not very stable on a jack and stands as I found out the other day when cutting the cat out, also its sat on the side of the road half on a path half on a road so didn't really want to be crawling around under it, I need to get it empty as I plan on weighing it in on monday Cheers Lee

![]() | Re: how to empty a crashed mk2a fuel tank ?? I'd just siphon it. If it makes it easier, pull out the fuel pump and siphon from there.

Lol scrap is 180 a tonne at the moment here so even if I get that its something towards her next car they take all your details aswell now so water in that tank (although I've filled a boot up with rubble before )would get me in a whole load of hassle lol Hopefully ill. Some bits but if not at least ill have some nice new front seats for my sei ![]() Lee
