although not explicitly stated in the rule governing number-plate fitment i believe there are a number of rules that come together to make putting it in the screen illegal

firstly it has to lay on an angle which combined with the screen makes it more difficult to read the letters it also has to be 'Fixed' to the car which means sticking or bolting it to the dash.

also anything that obscures your vision out of the front screen while driving above what is fitted as standard, has other rules which can come back to bite,

you could try arguing with PC plod but i strongly suspect you wouldn't win if he took umbridge to your screen mounted plate. which you could face losing if he reports back to the DVLA that you are displaying incorrectly.

its basically easier to screw it to the front of the car. it also looks better and doen't make other drivers think its fallen off

if you want to do something different try a smaller bike sized plate or mounting it alfa Style but you still might find you have problems with the police thinking you are trying to hide something/it

Thanks for the reply's people! :) hmm, it is easier if i screw it on but i want the car completely dark! I think ill sticky pad it on the bumper for a few days see what i think of itt! Thanks!

I you keep it in the front wind screen you may get pulled and fined as your number plate should be on you bumper.

If you do not wish to drill your bumper sticking it on is still perfectly acceptable just make sure it is stuck on properly so it doesn't fall off.

If you get stopped and your plates are held on with velcro or loosely it's going to instantly arouse suspicion. "PC plod" will straight away want to know why and his list of reasons will be so they can be easily swapped....what are you trying to hide he'll ask.

Bolt them on, they won't get swiped/fall off and besides, in the window looks tacky.

Sorry maybe i'm missing something here - there just number plates!:bang: No one is going to judge you on them specially since those wheels look absolutely class...never seen them on a Fiat before - car looks mint! (y)

I was saying velcro from a photographers view, Have you ever taken dusk pictures of your car only to have flash/reflection ruin an otherwise beauriful picture, but i do agree you will have to park secure because those plates are nice and would look luvverly on some yobbo's bedroom wall, I had a friend with a proper barry bodykitted corsa, looked **** but he insisted that the numberplate ruined the exterior, so he made a makeshift numberplate board with nissan micra mk1 lights and secured it to his parcel shelf in clear view, perfectly legal as it was visible, secured and lit, didnt look half bad either considering what it was in lol.:D
