hi guys,

i'm having major problems with my warranty company & an intermittent dash problem, (on a punto mk2)

what happens is intermittently when i turn the ignition key my entire dashbaord will go dead, no lights or guages etc..
now its been into fiat & hooked up to thier diagnosics & they say it has a "CAN line error" & that it needs a new dash,

the warranty company sent out an engineer to take a look & make sure the dealership wasnt lying & scince its intermittent it didnt do it while he was there.... hence no approval for a new dash,

they've (warranty company) sent it to an electrics specialist & it has yet to display the same problem [V][:(!]

has anyone ever had a can line error on thier punto dash? what is the can line & is it in integrated part of the dash etc?
would like to know more about it as i know i've got a fight om my hasnds :(

Roadrunner,

Could you tell me what your outcome was.I have the same problem, I have taken it to 2 Fiat garages who say the instrument panel needs replacing. My Fiat also had these intermittent problems but then went completely dead.
Has anyone else had a similar situation ? It seems there was also a guy in New Zealand who had exactly the same problem (sonic)

I suspect this is a batch problem (my car is 3.5years old with only 34000kms on the clock)
I am uncertain about the Can line but I was told the wiring checked out.

it was fixed by the dash being replaced, (after a big fight with the insurance company)

my car is also about 3.5 years old & only had about 12,000 miles on the clock when this happened.

no problems with the dash scince it was replaced, so even though the fault was in the can line (the dash is part of the CAN line :)) so it fixed it :)
