I need to top up the fluid in my gearbox, Ive read what it specifies in the handbook and in haynes but I cant find it locally.

I went to Halfords and picked up a bottle of transmission fluid. It says on the front -

Automatic Transmission and Power Steering Fluid
Ford ESP-M2C-166H
Suitable where Ford ESP-M2C-166H specified
Can be used in continuously variable transmission (CVT) systems used by Ford, Fiat and Rover

I know It says it on the bottle but I think there are different auto boxes in Puntos, please could someone confirm if this stuff is ok to use.

Mite help if you told us ur model. Some dextron atf oils cant be mixed so mite just be better to do a service.

Its a 2001 1.2 16V Sporting Speedgear

Your best bet is to get the correct stuff from Fiat or you could just go a head and kill your gear box if you like?

The problem I have is I need it asap and the only place i can find it is shop4parts and they are closed until the 3rd of Jan, I cant even find it on the bay !

Why not just get it from Fiat them selfs?

I have a Fiat Punto Speadgear Mk1 2003 & hope that there is an equivalent to that most expensive & hard to find Tutela NG Synthetic base oil that Fiat quote in my handbook
Can anyone suggest for my hardly new car that will be OK to use like for eg
Kerax HyperDrive KXR Fully Synthetic CVT 5 Litre 5L Automatic Transmission Oil pls guys?

Has the fluid ever been changed in your gear box.? Given the age of the car it’s probably well worth doing and not really much more expensive than topping up the old stuff.

As for buying the right oil, go online to euro car parts or GSF and you’ll find the right stuff cheap enough.

I actually bought the Kerax as the ebay guy said
Yes its listed on our list of OK vehicles to use
AS for GSF when I tried using Enter reg etc it said here is a 1 litre for somat like 9 squid whereas I got 5ltrs for 23 squid off ebay

Oh sorry just saw your other point - No I dont believe its ever been changed plus I was getting Red warning light when hot so I now have a filter & oil so good to go now & yep the current oil is as black as spades
