Good old fiat key problem again.

I have a key with the transponder chip and cut blade which is very worn and doesn't start the car first time, I also have a key with the remote central locking, good cut blade, but no transponder chip so It doesn't work.

I need to take the transponder chip out of the key with the worn blade and get it into the key with the central locking fob built in, Im finding it impossible to remove, it looks as if the chips surrounded in glass so I dont want to force it incase the worse happens and im stuck.

Any ideas ?

Does the piece of glass not come off at all ?

The chip is encased in glass. So what? Use a file or somesuch to remoce the plastic from around the glass, embed the chip (in the glass!) in the second key, job done. My guess is that the glass is important and protects the chip.

Normally you can simply pry the key apart (sharp knife, etc.)

Punto transponders are glass, the same thing thats injected into pets. You should be able to remove it easily without breaking it.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I went at it and got it out fine, now tried to put it into new key and the holes too big and its rattling inside the key, small bit of superglue i think.

I use TigerSeal, but it's too expensive to buy just for one job. Anything that'll stop it ratting will be cool.

Now you've got one fully working key, might be an idea to go to Timsons to see if they can cut n'code a spare for you.
