hi i have just brought a year old Fiat punto and i noticed this strange noise coming from the back of the car not coming from the engine its more as if its under the car sumwhere.

its deffiantly not a ratterling sound, not quite a hissing sound maybe sumthing to do with a valve. or do Fiats generally make that noise.

its makes the noise when engine is on, but also makes the noise when the key is switched when lights on dashboard are on, but on few seconds then it fades out.

any ideas?

sounds like your hearing the fuel pump.turn on ignition and then your hear the whirr for a few secs and it stops?

hi yeh it makes noise when ignition is on engine is on!

i tell u what it sounds like it sounds exactly like when the window wipers are on.

the sound is really noticable and quite loud, the sound is locating near the fuel pump on the drivers side. plus its a constant sound and don't just go off for a bit.
