Technical rocker gasket?

No No No No Noo!!
dont Fully tighten it

its a pressure seal, you only need to apply pressure for it to seal
Clamping it down makes it move = Leaks straight away :(

You know when the rocker cover is begining to compress, you can feel it when tightening

Cleaning tho i do agree - More time cleaning the tiny groove out is important to ensure a better seal

gasket sealant / hymol is also a good idea to use on the bearing cap points, as there common places to leak

Hymol worked no different to the loctite stuff i used in my experience
It all depends on the seal on the car, most usually dont cut the mustard :(

only best way probably is to seal the Rocker cover down to the Head and just put the bolts in to make it look like a good job done if you dont want it to leak
But tbh i just keep cleaning the oil dribbles off with an old dish brush and some washing up liquid and small bottle of water to rinse it all off with

So I was going to change the rocker gasket, but then realised on the packaging it says its engine size 1108cc which is a Mk1.
Mine is a Mk2 1242cc.
Are they the same?

Technically no, the mk2 version was a modified design, although the physical size and shape is the same, and tends to last much longer before eventually leaking.

The FIRE Evo rocker gasket (last of the mk2b's and all models which currently use the 1.2/1.4 8v) is different again, to go with the modified cover.
