i got my tracking done earlier and was gunna straighten my steering wheel up but in the haynes it says if i slacken the 24mm bolt i have to replace it with a new one is this necessary? where can i get them from cheers

Aye, old nut should be OK. I've not looked but I assume that it's a nyloc nut with the nylon at the last couple of threads that acts as a threadlock. In general as long as the nut is too stiff to be run on by hand, then the locking bit is OK.

I've just had a thought. If the tracking has just been done, then the steering wheel should be straight now anyway. Unless you know that something (tie rod etc) is bent then it may be an idea to make sure that nothing on the front suspension/steering is worn, broken or accident damaged.

no i had it checked all over and everything is ok i was wonderin why the steering wheel was in the ten to two position now the tracking is ok. i was going to do the steering wheel earlier until i seen the haynes manual but i cant do it now cos its to cold and its snowing lol plus its to late

the reason that your wheel is not centred after someone has done the tracking, is cos they have been lazy b@st@rds and adjusted it on one side, not both, my local tyre spot screwed up my wheel position free of charge, had to take it back to them 4times until they sorted it to back how it should be.
Take it back to them and insist they do it right, don't go moving the wheel on its splines as nothing (the rack and everything associated) will be off centre when you come to do further adjustments.
