mk2 1.2 8v punto with oil on the spark plugs on the bottom of them, new oil been added and new spark plugs btw, any ideas?

Is this (1) oil in the spark plug hole that's got on the tip when you took the plug out or is it (2) oil that was invisible until you took the plugs out?

I is annoying because it (more or less) ruins a good plug.
2 means the engine is seriously throwing oil past the piston rings. Most likely a new engine needed. A compression test will prove if its ****ed.

Compression test it but its a very bad sign. If its cylinder 2 and/or 3 you might get lucky and find its the head gasket. If it s 1 or 4 a new (used) engine may be the cheapest option.

thanks for the reply pal, il check this weekend which ones they are btw if i was looking at the engine is it 1432 from left to right ( the spark plugs)

Depends entirely where the oil is. If it's on the electrodes, bad sign. If it's on the threads, means little. If on the insulator (top) either leaky rocker gasket or clumsy with oil refil.

Compression test will reveal all. Disconnect the TDC sensor (aka crank sensor) to prevent the engine firing. Throttle full open.

This is sorta how i noticed it mate, as i had to change the crankshaft pulley (it wasnt sitting correct ) so i checked the spark plugs and thats when i seen the oil, so if i clean them , disconnect the sensor and turn the car over it will show me where the oil is :) cheers

yes - the crank pulley has a small notch missing which the sensor uses to indicate when the car should spark the sparkies Removing the sensor will make the engine blind and try to start but fail (no spark)

Failing that you can also undo the ingition barrell ariel for the immboliser - again same effect
the immboliser blanks the Spark signal, so the engine turns over, but wont start - no spark present
