Hi can anyone give me some advice please
my clutch cylinder snapped as pushed the clutch paddle down
the garage is now telling me not only as the cylinder gone
but the clutch is worn and that why the cylinder broke
but the clutch was fine before cylinder broke what do you think thanks

Sometimes the push rod between cylinder and clutch lever can break but its rare. More likely the clutch itself has collapsed.

The pedal action should be silky smooth. If it was ...
  • stiff,
  • lumpy
  • springy like something bending
  • not releasing properly so the gears are stiff
... its the clutch.

Dont forget to make sure the gearbox input shaft bearings is properly checked for roughness or free play. If its slightly suspect, change it, because when it properly fails gear oil will ruin your new clutch.

Re: clutch slave cylinder

HI WhiteSei but surely the clutch would of been playing up
it was OK 5 Min's before cylinder broke
would it be OK to change the cylinder then check the clutch thanks

Yes the Slave Cylinder is a 2 bolt and Disconnect job - new one in - connect up - bolt up - Bleed up (must be done properly)

But the thing is - if the clutch internals broke up - can be fine then when the friction plate got to thin - shattered, jamming the Mechanism up = You stamp on clutch like every1 does - and Snap goes the cylinder

by all means try it - just be careful

And i'm with Whitesei - we always always say to check the G.box input shaft, its a common failure, and any wobble = New clutch in a few months time :(
