Hi all, i recently got a set of 17" wolfrace tuscan alloys to fit an o2 reg punto. i tried to fit them myself with no avail so i decided to take them back to halfords, no comments please lol. The guy in there said that you have to take the two bolts on each of the break drums and disks off in order to make the alloys fit to the car. Is this correct? will it do any damage to the car? i went to quick fit and they fitted them for me by taking the bolts off but said it was at my own risk.

The alloys fit perfect with the 205/40/17 wheels and have given the car better handling on the motorways and bumpy roads etc. They only rub when on full lock but just because it is touching the black plastic that prevents water from the road going into the engine.

Thanks in advance

Tommy :)

Thanks dave, set my mind at ease there.
how much roughly will the insurance go up by because of the alloys? do they have to be informed if we dont want them isured etc?
Thanks

I read an article on this recently. It suggested that you don't need to insure the wheels if you don't want them insured, i.e. if they were stolen ( with or without the car) nothing would be paid out in respect of them.

That is my interpretation anyway.

its not a matter of insuring the wheels, my insurance went up not to cover the wheels, but because the wheels make the car more appeling to thives who may take the whole car :(

yeah its a 1.2 8v that i have. what pressures do your have your tyres set to?
another thing you maybe able to help with. im trying to get some graphics for the sides of the car. what colours do you think would look good the car is metalic silver the kinda aluminium colour not the dark grey

Thanks tommy

You will need to inform your insurance company of any changes you make from standard regardless of whether or not you want them insuring.

Whether it affects your policy premium depends on the insurance company.
