1: Would I be correct in thinking this is the gasket for oil pump in picture ?


2: Which is the best sealant to use on oil sump ? The one on shop for parts, says 598 Loctite. I need this sealent today, so can't order from there, I can't seem to find this 598 Loctite in any motor factors. So what is the next best one ?

Fiat use silicone gasket. 598 is a better product.

The exhaust must be removed to remove the sump. You will need heavy duty scraper to split the old sump gasket.

Why do you think the oil pump gasket has failed? Oil is seaping out between pump and engine.
I have had every other oil leak fixed, so might as well do this one.

All so oil is leaking out from gasket on sump.

I was wrong 598 is silicone RTV. It's available on eBay or use another brand.

It's very rare for sump gasket to leak. Rusty sump pan is more common.

Fix the leak above and sump might be ok.

Don't use RTV on the oil pump. Lumps of cured silicone can break off and block oil passages.

Something like Loctite anaerobic 518 is ok as it cures only between the joint faces.

all done now, and leak stopped.
One more problem tho, since i had new gear box put in, when i turn right, there is a clicking sound coming from right front wheel, it sounds like, bear with me ( sounds like when kids put lolly pop sticks in there bike wheel)

Mite be a drive shaft cv boot, big rubber cone looking things on each side at the front, check the clips on them havent come off.

I have today just bought 2 brand new drive shafts, and fitted them, no more clicking, and no more grease all over my wheels, i have nearly replaced every thing on my car with brand new parts, i think its time to sell now and get another punto

Why sell when you have already spent so much getting it right. You are unlikely to get the costs back.

Its time to start another car, there is nowt left to do on this one now, i will get bored.
