So......im refurbing my fiat punto alloys white,im having the tyres removed tomorrow or Saturday and possibly removing the valves.Im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what valves to use when im done or shall i just stick some new bog standard valves in there ?(y)

also how much does it usually cost to remove four tyres from the rims ?
 
metal valves and salt on roads do not go well known some of these fitted and cap seizes on only way to remove is to cut them out and replace with normal valves

same happens with metal caps fitted to normal valves look good for a bit but seize on

like above, just use normal valves. i asked for the shorter ones so they aint as imposing.
my tyre place broke the tyre beads, removed the old valves and gave me 4 new ones for free. (well, they ended up giving me 5 in the end as one of the metal valve caps had seized on my alloys and i needed to check the pressure)
by sticking to the standard valves and plastic caps, u will less likely suffer from future problems.
 
Mine has horrid naff red (now pink) alloy caps that have seized on. Stick with the normal plastic.

White paint will not cope well with brake dust as it stains easily. You will be wheel cleaning with a toothbrush every week. To do the job properly, get the wheels stove enamelled. Its not costly and does not stain like paint.

I disliked this post, too! ;)

Firstly, you cannot stove enamel alloy wheels -- the temperatures involved in melting the enamel would destroy the wheel! We're talking here of melting glass! Powder coating (melting plastic) is great, 2 pack is pretty good, plain old aerosol works pretty well and can be touched up easily, but -- big but -- the preparation and the primer needs to be right.

If you've bought cheap tat and you don't check your tyre pressures every week or so, of course the caps will eventually seize on. My experience of using the Richbrook ones through two winters is that they don't seize. I think Brooky still has them!
 
those flush fitting valves look brilliant to me
a dab of grease on the threads and a paper gasket is all thats needed if anyone had issues with seizure i would have thought
