Punto mystery problem.

right i posted in tech talk with no reply so ill try here.

My engine keeps randomly misfiring whilest driving along.

The engine will be fine then suddenly misfire for about 20 seconds and then will clear itself and will be fine fine for a while until it happens again.

i took it on the motorway for along longish drive and it seemed to pretty much die completely after a while. But after leaving it on the drive for a couple of hours it seemed ok again.

Ive had a head gasket, water pump, termostat, oil filter, cambelt, new leads, plugs, coilpacks, lamda sensors and cat about 100 miles ago so i am baffled.

Any engine boffins got any advice as it would be greatly appriciated.

Re: Punto mystery problem.

It might be a blocked fuel filter if fitted, drivers side rear wheel-arch area IIRC.

Re: Punto mystery problem.

Any EML lamp on dashbord
Any diagnostic code read?
If not - try to do "Self learning phonic wheel" procedure (reset ECU).
Also put him on diagnostic code reader.

Re: Punto mystery problem.

flashing eml is missfire, used the guide to check if its ecu?

some code readers only read live codes you need examiner or fes to read stored codes

Re: Punto mystery problem.

get a decent code reader and post codes on here so you know which cylinder if not all it is misfiring on...
