When I rev engine, it takes about 3 secs for engine to come back to tick over, same as when am driving, and change gear the revs stick and then come down slow, what is the cause any one know

I have inspected the butterfly it's fine, but i did not think it would be that as i cleaned throttle body 2 days ago

Check and clean the MAP sensor. Also look for air leaks into the inlet manifold. Breather pipes, servo vac pipe and throttle body gasket are all possible.

What is the recent service history on the engine?

I have had new cam belt and tensioner, new crank shaft oil seals, new plugs and leads, new oil and filter, new clutch, all in last 2 weeks, i could not unscreaw the little screaws that hold the sensors on to throttle body to take them out and clean them, is this where the map sensor is?

You need to be sure there are no ways for air to get into the engine other than through the throttle body. Check all the vac hoses for splits and leaks. A Google and Forum search will tell you where to find the MAP sensor.

Here top of the list

all pipes on nice and tight, no air leaks, i have replaced map sensor.
i have noticed that if i rev the car at a stand still or driving it, and let go of accelarator, the revs drop down to 1500 stay there for a couple of secs and then go back down to 9000 slowly.

(900 presumably :) ) That may be ok

The ECU controls the tickover so has to work out what's going on to avoid stalling the engine. Also check the cam timing really is spot on as it might affect the ECU response.

Took car to garage this morning, he said he can not find anything wrong with it, he suggested I took of the cone air filter, surley this would not cause this problem ..... or would it?

I know this thread had no update for... a few years now but did you manage to find the cause of the problem?
(I have the same issue)

Given that that the original poster has not put anything on the forum in 4 years and looking at old posts sold the car, it's unlikely you'll be getting a reply anytime soon. Probably best to start your own tread and explain your problem fully.
